Free casino games: the history of gambling, part II

December 12th, 2008

Find out more about free casino games and their exciting way from ancient time to modern gambling. Roulette, as a casino game also has a very interesting history. The word «roulette» means «a small wheel» in French. The game we know today was popular in France in Modern times, and was edited by Francois and Louis Blanc into the form we all are familiar with. They have introduced the “Single 0″ to the game in 1842, and roulette was brought to America in that variation. There are ongoing debates regarding the origin of the game itself. Some people claim that roulette was invented by Blaise Pascal, the French mathematician who lived in the 17th century. Other state that the game was introduced by the Chinese and brought to Europe by Dominican monks.

This game was highly popular among the rich and famous of the 18th and 19th century England, and was originally called «Hazard». It was imported into France, where it got its modern name. “Craps” has derived from the word “crabs”, meaning “pair of ones”. The game was a huge success in America, where it was simplified into the present form and played on steam powered show boats.

Texas Holdem poker terminology

November 7th, 2008

For all you new players out there that are just getting in to poker, heres a list of common poker terms that you will need to know. These terms are good both online and in a normal card game with your buddies.

Limit Poker: This is poker with set limits. For example, a 1 dollar/2 dollar limit Holdem game only allows a raise a maximum of 2 dollars at a time before the flop until the river. This is the opposite of no limit Holdem where a player can raise any amount at any time. Real About basic low limit Holdem strategy

Position (early and late): This is where you are seated in comparison to the dealer button. Early position is the spot right after the big blind and strategically has the worst position on the board because this position must call before he knows what the other players will do. Late position is on or near the dealer button and is considered the best position because you get to see how the other players will act before you make a decision whether to play your hand or not.

Blind (Small blind/big blind): These are the ante for Texas Holdem Poker. The two players the left of the dealer must place the pre-determined amount before they have a chance to see the cards. If there is a raise and either of these players fail to call, their blind is forfeited.

Pre-flop: This is when all you have is the 2 cards in your hand and the cards on there have not been any community cards revealed.

Flop: this is the first three cards that are turned over after all bets have been made and or called.
Turn: This is the 4th card to be revealed in a game of Texas Holdem.
River: This is the last card to be revealed in a game of Texas Holdem.
Board Cards: These are the cards on the table that all players share and use to make their hands

Draw: A player is said to be on a draw if a player calls a bet in hopes that the next card will give him the winning hand. For example if a player has QK in his hand and the flop is 10 Jack 2, and the player calls a bet in hopes of a 9 or an Ace.

Outs: This is the number of cards that a player could draw in order to produce the winning hand. If the flop is QJ2 and a player has 10 9, he needs either a King or an 8 in order to complete a straight. There are 4 Kings and 4 eights in the deck leaving a total of 8 outs to make a straight.

Pot Odds:
This is the ratio of how large of a bet you must call to the size of the pot. If you are clearly behind in a hand but your opponent bets 1 dollar at a 100 dollar pot. It is worth risking one more dollar to see the next card that might win you a 100. But say your opponent bet 120 dollars at a hundred dollar pot, and you dont have a hand, it is not worth calling 120 dollars to see the next card.

Shorthand:
This is a game of poker that has less than 6 players.

Longhand:
This is a game that has at least seven players involved.

October 6th, 2008

All too often, folks find a game that they like and stick with it which is fine. However, being that playing these online casino sites is really one big game of chance and odds, it would be safe to say that by trying your luck at more games, you are increasing your odds all the way around, right? How does one decide on the casino game that is right for them? The answer is easier than you can imagine: go with what you know. But the follow up answer is: grow with what you like. What do I mean by that? If you find yourself browsing, looking for the best in casinos online and you find one that you like, go for it. So be smart when you find the online casino that’s right for you. Find one that offers more games, more odds, nice payouts, and amazing software to work with. Anyone wanna buy a system?

September 27th, 2008

So I got me a little notice here. Egor’s been working his way through some freebies - a new supplier’s trying to break into supplying the casino. Reckons he needs to make sure all the right people get their taste of the good stuff and we’re both of us out to oblige him. Damn, but some of this stuff is good! Makes me wanna give up the video poker and the slot machines, and settle down with a bottle or two to enjoy my retirement. Anyways, the young fellah just called. Caught me in a mellow mood for once. He thinks - well, we can suspend judgement on that for so long as he keeps paying me - he thinks I should explain myself. In one piece I’m saying there’s, “a proper mathematical playing strategy for video poker.” In the next, I’m saying there’s a gambler’s fallacy and you can’t predict the cards. He thinks they doesn’t fit right together. So here’s a few words to make it all crystal. Did you ever see Ocean’s 11 - don’t matter whether it was the original Rat Pack version or the new ones with George Clooney and his pals? Did you notice how they always robbed the casinos. There was never a hint of walking through the door with a system for winning at the tables or on the slot machines. Hollywood got it right for once. The only way you guarantee a big score at a casino is as a thief - and you’ve to be lucky to enjoy your “takings” and avoid the hail of bullets if you get caught by wrong people. Look around online. You’ll see a small army of people touting their systems for beating all casino games with a casino advantage. Play slot machines, win big. Win at blackEgor without counting. When I was growing up, my mother used to play 78s all the time. She loved the musicals of the 1920s. She’d never been on the chorus line, but she’d a hankering for it. Her parents disapproved of theatrical folk and that was an end of that. Anyways, one of my favorites was Banana Oil - kinda like snake oil but always applied to lounge-lizard lines. “When he tells you, ‘I adore you,’ that’s banana oil.” In other words, everything he said to get his mark into bed was bullshit.

There ain’t no system around that even dents the casino edge on games where the probabilities are set in the casino’s favor. Math is math. Mind you. It’s not my money - you wanna fool yourself you can shade the odds in your favor on video poker, then feel free. So, how do these systems work? You’re supposed to base your bets on the most recent outcomes. Take roulette as an example. Wait for a run of blacks, then bet on red - the longer the run, the bigger the bets on red. If you see a pattern emerging, you’re supposed to think that the probabilities of the game itself have changed. When I worked for casinos, we always nodded wisely when someone cautiously asked if they could play a system. Another little chicken ripe for the plucking. My father was counting deaths by the million over decades for the life companies. Probabilities and statistics only make sense in the long view. If you’ve the bankroll, you can often win over a session. But you’re obsessional kind, ain’t ya? You’ve invested that money in a system. You’re not going to quit while you’re ahead, are you? Which means that any small winnings you picked up on the good days will all get given back to the casinos on the bad days. It’s just the way the Casino edge works. Like I say, you can’t beat the math. Which leaves me with my strategy, which I’ll get back to when I’m good and ready.

Can it be better to gamble online?

September 26th, 2008

When I was younger and had a lot of dare, so many years ago that I can hardly remember these times, gambling was so much easier. You either got in your car or on an airplane, and went where people were playing casino games for real money, or you asked around and found out where the floating games were for that night. I guess when I was starting out, the illegal kind was always more exciting until you got to know everyone then it was down to a routine. After that, going to a real casino had the edge.

You have to protect yourself. Except you do not know who the company is behind the online casino.

But because the overheads for running an online casino are significantly less than the real world equivalents (paying salaries to all those countless people is not required), the online payout schedules are more generous. Online operators can afford to return more of the stake money to the players and still make a good profit. I suppose some of the motivation for regulation is the sense that online gaming is not regulated. Go into any real world casino, and you should always be “safe” except from your own gambling habit, of course. There are security cameras everywhere making sure no-one is going to cheat you. Regulators check the slots to make sure they are all working properly. Once you are online, there are no external eyes looking after you.

So does that mean online gaming is a “good thing”? There you are at home or sitting in a hot spot with your wifi laptop and there is no-one to tap you on the shoulder to warn you that you are riding a losing streak into bankruptcy. But, so long as you have your gambling under control, you say when, where and how long you play. What can be better than that?

Have no reservations about that Indian machine

September 20th, 2008

To run the third class of gambling, the tribe operating land-based casino has to negotiate a compact with the local State Government and, to be fair, many have done this. But some decided that regulation was not for them. To get around the legislation, they devised electronic bingo games that look and feel like slots and video poker machines. If nobody told you, you wouldn’t know you were not playing a Vegas style of machine. All the machines are linked to a central piece of software that plays bingo games among all you players. Whether you win or lose is decided by the virtual ball the software “picks”. Each game ends when a “winning” pattern in the game is achieved. Except that, once you lift the lid, the insides are very different. The headline news is that these machines don’t have a fixed hold percentage. It’s all very ingenious and, using this technology, the manufacturers of the games claim that the payouts are identical to the third class of game. But wait! Everything is good besides: if the class two and three games are identical in the way they play, how come this is not illegal?
Nowadays Indian Tribes casinos are getting a lot more common so it’s worth a word about their video poker machines. In the federal law about indian gambling, the Federal Government classified three types of game: 1. social gambling that’s not for profit; 2. games that don’t rely on a House bank such as bingo and lotto; and 3. the traditional casino style of gambling games including slots and video poker machines.

Video poker machines are a con

September 18th, 2008

Look at video poker machines that are lined up at the entrance to any casino, or lurking in the corner of social clubs where the local gambling ordinances permit them. They play to the greed, the get-rich-quick in the poor saps who can’t resist them. . . Pityful losers. . . Keep hearing them complain they’re not winning enough. Keep seeing them coming back to the machines. There’s only one thing you can say about these people. The House has an edge. No matter where you go in the casino world, whether its to some swanky place or online, the paytables are set in a way that gives the House a mathematical advantage. They have worked out the one important feature of the machines. There will be times when players have a hot streak and it will seem like all the jackpots are falling. So let’s put those sore losers right. There’s no need for the House to rig the machines. The casino operators are going to win in the long term without having to cheat. Then those streaks will go cold. That’s just the way statistics work their way to the one mathematical certainty. The House will win in the end. There’s no way they will spoil a sure thing by risking detection as a fraud by regulators.

Skip the Buffet and Go Straight to the Slots

September 8th, 2008

Ever wonder why so many people flock to casinos? Rarely is it the food, and it is definitely not the drive it takes to get to the casinos which are buried somewhere in the desert. No, it is usually the game itself or the potential a player believes he or she has at winning large jackpots. Clearly, that is a draw that is big enough for anyone-professional casino player or not. Slots are an amazing way to introduce yourself into the wide world of gambling. It’s safe, secure, easy and a load of fun. Check all the casino games online that are fit your demands. Whatever your skill level or style, you will be able to see for yourself once you take a chance on becoming a casino games player online. These “top slots” are simply the slots that offer more bang for your buck. Progressive and otherwise. So, yes. The drive to the casino is worth it if you exactly know what can you do there to save your money and consciense. But now you know, you don’t have to drive anywhere. Get the action from home!

There’s No Cheating in Casino Online Slots!

September 4th, 2008

So maybe there is no secret to top slots winnings. Maybe you can’t exactly trick the system. But it is always a secret dream that you walk away bigger than the house. The only way to win is to play. And the only way to win big is to play like a pro. How does one become a pro, though? It takes time to become a professional anything, so don’t think for a moment that you can just pick up a game of blackjack with friends and suddenly have an innate gift of counting cards and reading expressions. Or can you? The theories are all over the place on what makes a genius a genius. The chances of you or me being one at casino games are pretty slim. However, the ability to increase your playing ability all depends on how often you visit the craps online, slots online , and poker online games you find on the internet. Looking for a free handout? Forget it. The games are competitive and fun so you have to find your way into the world and just go for it! Understand, though, that you are starting the way all new players start. Slow and steady and with enough patience you will be able to play like the pros do, winning money and mastering the games you love the most. There are no sure fire ways to bet “right” and completely demolish the competition. There are ways to become a better player than the one you once were when you started. Online casinos are all waiting for you!

Is Online Poker Rigged?

August 27th, 2008

People still don’t believe that online poker is not rigged. But the poker sites make their money from the rake not you loosing a hand. With that being said the question you should be asking yourself is what do I need to watch out for while playing online? There are hackers that claim they have programs that allow them to cheat. But I don’t believe them.

Online poker room has money from each game, so it is interested in you to play (and trust!) more. All sites are interested in making maximum profits and hence in maximum number of players. The reason you may see more big hands like a straight flush or four of a kind online is the play online is generally loose especially at low money tables. The more players in a hand means its more likely that a someone will draw a monster hand. Its not the way the program is shuffling the cards.

Secret strategy is when two players secretly communicate with each other about their hole cards and betting strategy. To guard against this watch for players that always play slow before the flop because this is when they are communicating and plotting against you, also look out for a guy that keeps raising and reraising with nothing because he’s trying to jack up the pot for his partner or push out players that may win. Poker sites watch for players that only play together. The cheaters quickly get spotted by the players or the poker site and are not anything to worry about.

Where there’s money involved there will always be cheaters but online poker is not rigged. Pick an established poker site (Like Titan Poker room) to play on and you will be all right. Gambling online is more safe for no player even touch a cards.

Also for german players we offer german wersiot of poker room rating- online pokerraum.
